For my first day in Prague, I had only one objective – the Strahov Monastery library. It was listed in several Internet articles about some of the most beautiful libraries in the world and I wanted to see it for myself. Though I could have used the Hop On-Hop Off bus tour to get there, I decided to use the local tram network. The PID app (Prague Transit) recommended Tram 15 (two stops) to Tram 22 (four stops) to get there and that worked perfectly from my hotel. I bought a ticket for the library and climbed a few flights of stairs to see a wonderful space.
There are two libraries of note in the building: the Theological Hall and the Philosophical Hall (https://thecreativeadventurer.com/ultimate-guide-to-the-secrets-inside-the-stunning-strahov-library-prague/). Both are beautiful and impressive.

It was lunchtime afterwards so I headed for the monastery wine cellar restaurant for goulash and wine.

After lunch, I walked around the monastery grounds for a while then walked to the Hop On-Hop Off bus stop to buy a ticket for the rest of the highlights of Prague. I stayed on the the bus for the full tour but nothing really inspired me enough to deal with crowds. The light was beautiful and changing on the rooftops of Prague so I got off the bus and walked around Prague, just to get lost and see whatever I could. As I approached my hotel, footsore and tired, I saw something worth checking out the following day.
