I was just planning to ride the tour bus for the day as a way to rest my knee and still sightsee. The walk to the tour bus stop at the train station was slow but not too painful. I stayed on the tour bus for a complete loop. There’s plenty to see and do here – I only have 3 days here and I simply cannot do everything I’d like to do, even if my mobility were not limited. For instance, I would have liked to see the Schonbrunn Palace and gardens but that much walking would have been the end of my touring for the day. I had to make choices. I settled upon The Austrian National Library, the Albertina museum and maybe the Museum of Applied Arts for the next day. It was mid-afternoon and time for lunch when the tour bus returned to the Albertina stop again so rather than going to the Bitzinger Wurstestand (https://viennawurstelstand.com/guide/the-11-best-vienna-wurstelstande-you-have-to-experience/) by the Austrian Opera House, where Pavarotti would eat between scenes, I had fish and chips with a couple glasses of wine at Cross Fields, an Australian Pub nearby. There was a drunk very fit Italian fellow in sweats sitting at the bar, drinking beer, waiting for friends while talking up the waitress. His English and German sounded pretty good even so. A drunk guy at the bar in the early afternoon… it seemed like a very Australian pub scene! The waitress and I giggled a bit at how drunk he was as he staggered down the stairs to the rest rooms. His friends did show up to take him away before he fell off the barstool. I hopped back on bus after my late lunch in time for the last bus heading back towards the train station and my hotel. I was back in my room by 7:30 or so and spent the rest of the evening with blog posts
